Memorial for A-Bomb Victims | 5 of 94 |
The Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims contains a library of first-hand accounts of victims’ stories and other historical documents. This room was the main focus of the memorial where you can see a 360° panorama of a decimated Hiroshima. (The second panel from the right depicts the area where the A-Bomb Dome stands.) The white object in the centre of the room is a perpetual water fountain which is offered to the victims of Hiroshima who died begging for a drink. The shape of the fountain depicts the time the bomb was dropped —8:15 a.m. It was very moving to be in this memorial and to try and grasp the level of devastation and suffering that so many innocent lives had to endure.
