I had been waiting for a nice sunny day to take some photos of Downtown London with my brand new Maxxum 7D. This was the first time I had used my new camera outdoors and it was so much more fun than using my Maxxum XTsi 35mm film camera. The lighting was challenging though, since the setting sun was creating backlit scenes and there were a lot of areas with bright white snow. Having the immediate feedback of a digital camera helped me see when my photos were coming out underexposed, but I still need more practise — most of the photos on this page had to be corrected for underexposure using Photoshop.
This was the first time I took photos of people which I really enjoyed doing. Capturing the moods and emotions of people is so much more rewarding than shooting photos of buildings and landscapes. I felt a bit awkward about it though because I wonder if people feel uncomfortable having their photos taken, especially by a stranger. I suppose the more I do it, the more comfortable I’ll feel and that might make the people around me comfortable about it too.
