Cenotaph for A-Bomb Victims | 4 of 94 |
The Cenotaph is a memorial to the victims who died after the United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Beneath the domed structure is a registry of more than 140,000 known victims. You can see in the background the A-Bomb Dome — the only remaining building to have survived the A-bomb explosion. The engraving on the Cenotaph reads, "Let all the souls here rest in peace; For we shall not repeat the evil."
