The gardens inside the Imperial Palace were beautiful and tranquil and our tour guide explained how integral they were to the old Emperor's lifestyle. They were obviously used for quiet reflection as well as ceremonies and other events. I was both impressed and captivated by how much is known about the lifestyles of emperors from centuries ago.
